Bulk Delivery Options

Bulk landscape materials can be delivered loose by dump truck or in bulk bags depending on the product, quantity, access, and placement requirements.

Loose Bulk Truck Delivery

Best for larger quantities. Material is delivered by bulk truck and dumped in one accessible location such as a driveway, parking pad, or approved open area.

Bulk Bag Delivery

Best when you want cleaner placement, smaller quantities, or better separation between different products. Bulk bags are placed by delivery equipment where access allows.

Customer Responsibility Before Delivery

Before placing an order, customers are responsible for confirming that the delivery location is safe, accessible, and suitable for the delivery vehicle.

  • Choose a flat, firm, accessible delivery location.
  • Make sure the area is clear of vehicles, trailers, bins, tools, toys, and other obstacles.
  • Confirm there is enough overhead clearance from trees, wires, rooflines, and garages.
  • Confirm the driveway, alley, road, or access area can support the weight of the delivery vehicle.
  • Mark or explain the exact drop location clearly before delivery.

Delivery Trucks & Access Requirements

Bulk delivery trucks are commercial vehicles and require suitable access. Narrow alleys, steep grades, soft ground, low trees, parked vehicles, tight corners, and overhead wires may prevent delivery to the requested location.

If the driver determines access is unsafe:
The material may be placed at the closest safe location, or the delivery may need to be rescheduled. Additional delivery charges may apply if a second delivery attempt is required.

Driveway, Concrete, Asphalt & Property Damage Disclaimer

Important Delivery Disclaimer:
Calgary Sod Supply is not responsible for damage to driveways, concrete, asphalt, pavers, curbs, sidewalks, lawns, irrigation systems, underground utilities, septic systems, landscaping, private roads, alleys, or any other property when delivery is completed at the customer’s requested location.

Bulk delivery trucks are heavy vehicles. Even when every reasonable effort is made to complete the delivery carefully, damage can occur due to soft ground, thin concrete, weak asphalt, poor base preparation, hidden voids, underground services, existing cracks, steep grades, narrow access, or unsuitable site conditions.

By placing an order and requesting delivery, the customer confirms that the selected delivery area is suitable and accepts responsibility for the delivery location chosen.

Delivery Placement

Loose bulk material is dumped in one location only. Drivers cannot spread material, move material after dumping, or place material in unsafe areas.

  • Material must be dumped on private property or an approved location.
  • Drivers may refuse unsafe or unsuitable drop locations.
  • Delivery placement is at the driver’s discretion for safety.
  • Customers do not need to be home if clear delivery instructions are provided.

Underground Utilities & Irrigation

Customers are responsible for identifying and avoiding underground utilities, irrigation systems, drainage systems, septic fields, shallow lines, invisible dog fences, low-voltage lighting, and any other hidden services before delivery.

Delivery vehicles should not drive over unknown underground systems. Calgary Sod Supply is not responsible for damage to unmarked or hidden underground services.

Weather & Ground Conditions

Rain, snow, thawing ground, soft soil, frost coming out of the ground, or saturated areas can make delivery unsafe. Delivery may be delayed, rescheduled, or limited to the closest safe location during poor site conditions.

Material Colour, Texture & Natural Variation

Soil, mulch, gravel, decorative rock, sand, and natural landscape products may vary in colour, moisture content, texture, size, and appearance. Natural variation is normal and should be expected.

Final Sale Notice

All bulk landscape material sales are final once delivered or placed.
Due to the nature of bulk materials, products cannot be returned once they have been dumped, placed, contaminated, mixed, or delivered to the customer’s site.

Bulk Delivery FAQ

Can the driver dump material on the street?

Material should be delivered onto private property or an approved location. Customers are responsible for any permits, bylaws, fines, or restrictions related to street placement.

Can the truck drive onto my lawn?

Lawn access is not recommended. Heavy trucks can cause ruts, irrigation damage, soil compaction, and property damage. Drivers may refuse lawn access.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. Clear instructions must be provided before delivery. If the site is unclear or unsafe, the driver may choose the closest safe location.

What happens if the truck cannot access the site?

The driver may deliver to the closest safe location or the order may need to be rescheduled. Additional delivery charges may apply.
